Here's my theory: Any vehicle designed to operate in the vacuum of space is a pressure vessel. However, pre-processing waste material in order to use them later in more efficient conversion processes might lift the total process efficiency - but we are probably talking somewhere of 30 to 50% theoretical efficiency (which is, as common temperatures and pressures, around 50-60%). The final design is a coil of stainless steel tubing that fits inside a hydrogen storage "pressure vessel" 4 inches in diameter. The depth of a hydrolysis gravity pressure vessel, which hangs in a vacuum chamber within a steel and concrete casement, is designed to be typically 2,000 feet (610 meters). Thin walled pressure vessels, uniform torsion, buckling of column, combined and direct bending stresses. Purdue has filed a final patent on the heat exchanger. Simple bending theory, flexural and shear stresses, unsymmetrical bending, shear centre. ASME pressure vessels refers to the US design and operating standards for pressure vessels. (Purdue University photo/Andrew Hancock). No matter what atmospheric pressure is used inside the ship, the hull must be able to withstand that pressure. Structural Analysis:Analysis of Concrete design- basic working stress and limit state design concepts, analysis of ultimate load capacity and design of members subjected to flexure, shear, compression and torsion by limit state methods.
